Mila takes the top prize at Driffield

After a few days of recovering from the Great Yorkshire Show we were back in action, getting a new team ready for our local show at Driffield. We like to take a different team to Driffield as the girls are sometimes weary when they get back from five days at Harrogate (we know the feeling!)

Jim and I set out just after 6am with our team of five on the lorry. We took two Holsteins and three Jerseys, all from Jim and his parent’s herd. Pictured below are the Holsteins, Mila and Roxy, settling in at the show. They had a good show with Mila winning Champion Holstein and Roxy Reserve Champion.

One of my favourite cows, Gemini (pictured below) was champion at Driffield last year. She came second this year to a lovely cow from the Heath family’s Ravenfield Jerseys who went on to be awarded Jersey Champion with our Lacey beside her as Reserve Champion.

Mila was Holstein Champion and then Jim took her into the Interbreed Championship and came out with the trophy as she won the overall dairy prize. It’s always lovely to do well at the local show and we always enjoy our day at Driffield Show
