Great times at the Great Yorkshire

Last week we went on our annual family holiday to the Great Yorkshire Show. Jim’s family have shown cows at the Great Yorkshire for dozens of years and it is a big event in our farming calendar. We took four Jerseys from Jim’s Mum’s Cherryview Herd as well as an Ayrshire calf which Jim’s Dad bought a few months ago called Mitzi.

This year we were really pleased to take a second prize and then Reserve Junior Champion Jersey with Lacey. She is a real herd favourite and the kindest natured young cow. She was Jake’s first show calf when he was just three years old and has retained the gentle nature she showed him at that young age.

Another Lacey, was also second in the Mature Cow class. She is pictured below back home in her working clothes.
